I guessed my wife's neurologist's unpublished email address. Emailed him. He told me that's for internal communication only... Healthcare!

Email him from the hospital waiting room.
Tell him you were only phishing for a $250k HIPPA violation then sign him up for NAMBLA
Respond to him and copy his CEO and the Des Moines Register's editor.

oh man..lots of ideas there surrounding doctor patient communication
I think the problem isn't the tech, it's the lack of interest.

agreed..you can't change mentalities, unless of course there is money involved. Would a doc read/respond if you had to pay?

He didn't respond to the email, but he called to address my concerns and explain that email is not a good way to reach him (even though it's been the only way that we've reached him outside of a visit so far), because it's strictly for internal use... But either way, I now know that he reads his email and that he can expect more later. ;)
Probably worried about liability from medical advice potentially misinterpreted from email. The law ties them up a little that way (HIPAA)
