Food, Beer, and Shopping

Last weekend was nice, Kari's family came over to hang out/make beer/etc. Friday we went to Vicki's to celebrate Matthew's 50th Birthday. The boys and I played Geo Cache and found our first one. It was pretty fun - I want a GPS now. Then we had a big feast, hung out, etc. Later we drove up to Ames to pick up our wedding photos - which turned out awesome.

Saturday Nehru came over and we went to get beer supplies. While we were out Jeff ended up buying a mac mini to play with, ha. They are pretty nice little machines. I should get one to hook to a projector... I also got a blog and everything setup for Jeff. Which will be kind of fun to keep track of since he travels so much. Like, right now he's in Brazil again, wtf. Anyway, later, Jeff cooked another feast while we made a new batch of beer. This one will be a dark belgian ale - hopefully it turns out.

A couple days after putting the beer in the carboy the yeast just went nuts. It bubbled up heavily, clogged the tiny holes in the airlock's lid and exploded the top off. It hit my ceiling and everything, haha. I still can't find the lid for that thing. So I made a homemade airlock that would allow for bubbles to escape but no air to get in. Making beer is crazy.

For thanksgiving, Kari and I went to Marion, went to RG Bookies, had tons of food, worked on victor's website - the regular thanksgiving. Later we came back to Des Moines so my parents could stay at my place. Then shopping, hanging Christmas, having family over for pizza, etc.

The rest of the weekend was just hanging out with friends, shopping, etc. I bought my first pair of non-tennis shoe shoes. So now when I go out, I don't have to sneak past the doorman. I also got a projector for my basement. I had this plan to wait until we got our bonuses from work, but I found this one that is regularly $1900 for $900 - I had to buy it. So, right now I have it putting out an 80" picture. I was told that if you're sitting about 12' away you shouldn't go above 70". But the 80" seems nice. Actually, it seemed pretty tiny since I had just gotten back from seeing Walk the Line.... I might go up to 100". So once I can afford the screen and get everything mounted - movie night at my house. or maybe I will just hang a white sheet for now...

Photos here and here.

Why don't you just buy a wal mart sheet and see if you even like the thing full time. It did look pretty nice even on the textured wall.
