Holy Caucus

Man, there are so many crazy political people in this country. I seriously can't believe how many people get so stressed about politics. The caucus was yesterday, so Des Moines swelled with thousands of die hard political people. I met one group that drove from Texas just to get their stupid heads counted... and then they'll drive back home. wtf, why???

hmm, I wonder what political party I am...

Nah, no I don't.
"Nah, no I don't. I don't want to lead a stupid life." That is rediculous. If you don't lead your own stupid life, Someone stupid will lead yours. I think it's time for you to become more politically involved. I'm not talking about waving banners and hating or loving one side or the other, but at least take the time to hear what these people have to say. They may or may not be running "your" country. MCL
nope.

It's not my damn country. I'll just keep doing what I always do.

Nothing.

Harper knows what's up.
What do you know, Kevin agrees with you. Who would have thought that Kevin, the most individualistic person in the world, would agree with you.

Yes, its crazy to assume that people understand how democracies _should_ work. To know that they care about their futures enough to realize that the actions taken by their leaders today are directly reflected in their prosperity tomorrow.

Sometimes, their decisions do not directly effect you, but they do effect someone. Someday, a political choice is going to change your life, and when it does, you will understand.

My father became sick about 2 years ago, and nearly died. Without the political choices that were made in the 90's, I would not have been able to be there for him. Because those choices were made, I was able to be at his bedside for nearly 2 weeks without any consequences with my employer.

Do you wonder _why_ you have healthcare? Why you are able to enjoy the freedoms to have this website and blatently declare your political abstinence? Or how about why you have a job at all? A place to live? Streets to drive on? Schools to go to? Food to eat? Safety in your own home? Privacy? Electricity? Your derived sense of self-sufficiency is based on a framework built by politics.

You do understand that these are relatively NEW ideas to humanity. I wonder why it matters to so many people... Its too bad you don't want to live a stupid life.

hehe, scott, i love you. i think that my main reason for staying out of it is this: all of my major concerns/interests that could be effected by politics are mostly that of the general public. if someone runs for president and threatens to take away healthcare, privacy (which we don't have already), safety, food, schools, and streets... then i will vote against him.

until then, i will live with the fact that most of the american public has similar interests and will vote responsibly. i live a pretty stress-free, drama-free life. i don't really seek things that may cause me to argue, worry, get mad, become stressed, etc.

Don't you think that perhaps a few more people, who were thinking the same way you are right now, could have swung the vote in the last election and perhaps salvaged at least a moderate amount of our privacy?

So your philosophy on life is to let problems pile up enough to where it effects you, and then they become important... even though its usually too late to fix them.

I'm not sure I would call that type of lifestyle carefree, it seems more like lazy to me.

Life is not stress free.
Life is not drama free.

If you think that it is, you are either missing the point or are sheltered from it.
