Year One
Hmm, I don't think I can make my anniversary article as good as Kari's. Maybe I'll try to be more serious than her. wtf?
So yeah, this weekend was Kari and I's first anniversary. We were fairly confused about what to do because... well it's our first. And we were never the "today is our 14 month anniversary!!!" couple. You know the ones that not-married people celebrate... usually non-annually. I think kids get really confused about the reccurence of anniversaries. Anyway, off-topic. Again.
We basically celebrated Friday with some fondue, wedding cake, and St. Lucian rum. It was a good, laid back night. I was a little worried about the wedding cake being green and nasty, but it wasn't. And I'm pretty sure it tasted just as good as it did on the wedding day. Plastic, foil, tupperware, and a freezer. Amazing.
Saturday we ran to the QC for a minute to celebrate Ben getting married, which was a nice time. Then Sunday (our actual anniversary) we got brunch at 25th St Cafe. They have a really good brunch, really good - and cheap, and good. Then we got pumpkins and spent the rest of the day basically doing different things in the same room, haha.
That said, the last year has ruled. It's quite a blast living with someone who is your best friend with benefits. Plus, it's pretty ridiculous being married to someone. The little things that you learn about a person that you'd probably never learn about anyone else. Weird, haha. However, now everyone knows about my awesome underwear removal, haha. I think one of the best parts so far is that everything that's supposed to get lame when you get married, didn't happen, weee.
So, in the last year we've...
-not gotten prego.
-figured out a bunch of financial stuff.
-hung out a lot.
-visited family a lot.
-hosted 1, 2, 3 parties (with another one this weekend).
-traveled together... St Lucia, Las Vegas, and Chicago 1, 2, 3 times.
-generally loved life.
The only part that's negatively affected us has been money. However, I think that's an issue with most people just starting out... so, whatev. Plus, we're trying real hard to get it fixed. I can't wait for that to happen. I also can't wait for Kari to finish school and hang out more.
