I have no idea how to work IRAs... Investing shouldn't be this hard.

I feel a business idea forming

Select 38 stocks, bonds, and or mutual funds. Assign a numeric value to each. Also, label each numeric value as Red or Black for Even or odd. Document in a quick and easy spreadsheet and print. Lastly, with your new document had to Harrahs and spin the roulette wheel 5 times. Wall Street does the same.
You can do managed accounts with most providers. They take a small % but normally meet or exceed industry averages. This way you can blame somebody else when it fails miserably :(
There's a website called FutureAdvisor that was recently recommended to me that basically manages your IRA (and other investment accounts) for you. I haven't used it yet but I know people who like it.
I think it's something like:

1) put all yer money in a IRA
2) forget about it for 30 years
3) retire and live like a king
4) die
I think there's some part where you have to choose investments too.

Thanks, Jacqui ... I'll check em out.
in all seriousness, I just opened one that has a target date. It magically manages the mix of stocks/equity over time for you.
now we're talking. where can I find this magic?

It's very frustrating and confusing!
@wxwill @broox @cgansen my mom runs investment websites for big banks and always says to use the target date funds. e.g. TRRMX
