Projects completed in 2007: 1/6
Why do I do this to myself... I always get excited about too many things at once and try to take it all on.
So a couple months ago I started a book display for Kari. She had been wanting this one for her classroom that cost like $250, but I said we could easily build it for $50... So I did. Except, it's been sitting in Rico's shop for about a month. The only step left is to sand it, haha.
Instead of finishing it, I ripped up half the carpet in my basement to begin building a bar. It's still sitting there 1/4 finished and has already consumed a good chunk of my bonus check.
In the mean time, Nick and I started building a potentially large scale website - it's a huge project with a quick deadline. It's going to be pretty awesome, but a ton of work for sure.
Then, guess what I thought? "Now is apparently a perfect time for another huge project. I know, I'll upgrade my sites to a new server at Mosso." So I've been playing/fighting with that for the last week. I've got both love and hate for Mosso. Most of it is completely awesome, but some of it is equally as ghetto. I'll get more into that in a later blog.
And in the midst of all that there is my full time job of course, which is yet another, mostly finished project.
The killer is that in the past 3 weeks, I've gotten offers to develop 4 other websites, wtf. I sort of turned them down. Mostly I said, "please wait a month and get back to me." But we'll see if that happens. I hate saying no... Why can't I keep steady side projects going throughout the year? Everything hits right now! Dammit!
That said, I'm doing OK so far, but I think I might die by April, haha. Luckily staying up late has become easy again, which is nice.
So... it's friday, 4:45pm and I'm in town this weekend. Which project should I work on? Server migration? Basement remodel? That big site? Kari's shelves? Pioneer apps? ...definitely not Pioneer apps.
It's a good thing we already released the new desmoinesalive.com functionality... (however, I just started working on the next phase in the midst of this server migration, hahaha)
I am retarded.
