Valentine's Day, Soft Focus, Heiruspecs, etc
So this weekend marked the day that every girl in the world looks forward to, my Grandma's Birthday... also known as Valentine's day. Kari and I spent the day in town, I bought a $300 toolbox, ha. Kari also bought me a diagonal striped shirt from express for men, haha, I am metro now. Later, we went to Hy-Vee and picked out a bunch of stuff to make dinner at my APT. We don't normally cook, so we thought it'd be fun to try to cook, which it was. We made some awesome mushroom appetizers, shrimp, lobster, lemon peppered salmon, pasta, etc... we rule.
Sunday night there was a hip hop show with my friends from soft focus at vaudeville mews. Luke (know1) asked me to shoot video for them, so Kari and I went and met cedric there. The sound guy was even cool enough to let me run sound straight into the camera... so the quality is excellent. Soft focus was good, jeff wasn't playing with cleo's apartment, hmm, weird.. Jayvee was mixing in his place. But luke did a lot more rapping which was dope.
Heiruspecs is insanely dope. They're a live hip hop band from St Paul, Minnesota.. that is, they have a drummer, bassist, and keyboard player along with 2 MCs. They've been the live band for Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, Sage Francis, etc. I recorded their show as well and talked them into trading a copy of their CD for a copy of the video, ha. Felix (one MC) is really dope, he had a danger sidekick and showed me all the features... man, I really think I want one. Muad'Dib (the other MC) is crazy. He raps so fast and I have NEVER heard beatboxing like his. His vocal turntables are nuts, seriously, it is unreal. Maybe I should capture a clip of him bustin so you can hear it.
