Hip Hop, Yakuza, and Broomball Death.

So last week seemed super not productive. I really can't think of anything good that I got done aside from entertainment and such so I'm currently checking my Twitter just to figure out wtf I've done lately, hahaha.

OK...

Last Wednesday, I picked up Minnis and met Nick for a hip hop show at Vaudeville. It was a good time as always. I think Minnis had fun too. We saw some pretty amazing homemade lights for this instrumental band.

Then Friday, Zach and I got invited to this last minute Yakuza party. Yakuza is basically a Japanese mafia. They wear fancy suits and have ridiculous tattoos all over their upper bodies. Try to imagine the Crazy 88s from Kill Bill - except real and without masks. So the plan was to meet at Vertigo Rock Bar, take a limo to Appare for dinner, then come back to Vertigo for more partying. During all of this, we were supposed to be dressed as Yakuza.

So Zach and I started researching Yakuza and came to the conclusion that no matter what, we'd probably just look like white guys in suits... We didn't have time to get the fake yakuza tattoo shirts (however, Fej did somehow). So we did what anyone else would do and went to a thrift store - where we found some shirts that said, "Murder at the Orient Express." Then we cut them out and pinned them to fancier shirts. Kari's dad even made me a karate kid headband, haha. So we went to the party, dressed like idiots to find that half of the guys really did wear full suits, haha. We felt dumb. But, we still rocked it with our fake sword and nunchakus. It was fun. Pics

Saturday is when hell happened. Half of our District 5 broomball team got invited to join a full ice broomball team. We sort of got initiated by being thrown into a 2 day tournament with Broomball teams from around the midwest. Well, our first game was at 8 freaking AM. We showed up to find out we were playing Kelly Lake, who just won nationals for our division. Needless to say, we got mercy-ruled. The game got called with 13:55 left in the second half and an 8-0 score. The second game was against the Teraflops at 11:00. We didn't quite get mercy ruled, in fact we finished the game... but we got beat 7-1.

After that I napped, then we had people over for grilling/drinking. Then Nathan was retarded.

Sunday we had our 3rd game which was against GL Sports. We got mercy-ruled again, but we lasted a little longer. 8-0 with 6:55 left in the second. And by the end of the tournament, guess what the standings were? Kelly Lake - First Place, GL Sports - Second Place, Teraflops - Third Place. Somehow we got paired with the 3 best teams, dammit. So needless to say, I'm real real sore. I haven't ran that much since Nam. Nick got some good pics here.

So, yeah. It was quite a crazy weekend. I really got nothing done... aside from playing with some Google Base stuff. Soon the alive sites will automatically send our reviews into google base which will show up on google map searches for restaurants and what not. Woo woooooooooo.
well, i got the stuff submitted to google base... but apparently the reviews won't show up on google local.

you must have to be special for that... i can't find any information anywhere on how to get listed there.
