so before someone else tells me, "you can get this in the U.S."

there are apparently 2 versions of absente. there's the U.S. version and the european version - both under the same name. the U.S. version does not contain grande wormwood - the european version does. grande wormwood is the wormwood with more thujone in it. the U.S. version has southern wormwood which has less thujone - making it legal to sell in the U.S.

i believe the u.s. version also doesn't have the text above the white label that says "absinthe"

i haven't seen the u.s. version, but the text on this bottle is 100% in french.

The EU has some major restrictions on absinthe as well. If you want real Absinthe you need to go to non-EU eastern europe countries.

By the way, it's "absinthe" in english.

The EU does not have major restrictions on absinthe: France requires a small label change and lower fenchone content. Other than that, the restrictions are the same in the EU (including the Czech Republic), Switzerland, and most of the world. Excluding USA and Muslim countries where you can't buy any alcohol.
