Going Gluten Free

A few weeks ago … err actually I guess it was more like 2 months ago (the concept of time has completely broken since I've taken on this crazy job of mine), I decided to try a little experiment in gluten free eating.

First let me start off with the gross backstory… For years, I've been prescribed with various medications to make this random rash on my ankles go away. Doctors have told me it's eczema, a fungus, and several other random types of dermatitis. Some of the treatments have helped, but nothing has really made it go away. So I've pretty much just lived with it - as annoying as it may be.

After some conversations over the fourth of July weekend, I began wondering if these spots were my body reacting to a gluten allergy. …

Dos Zen Tattoos

zoinks!

So Friday I got 2 more hours of ink on my back. My crown should be completely done in about 1 more session, hurrah! I can't wait to have a finished tattoo. When it's done I should have around 8 hours in it. And now, I can't stop thinking of new tattoo ideas. I still want a plus symbol, some form of "live life," a giant word on my stomach, and I really want something on my chest that flows well. I don't really like the big winged things/hearts that people always get. I like things more like Tommy Lee's lions. Something mirrored that flows with my boobies. Those lions are awesome - I just wish I'd thought of them... stupid rock stars.

Anyway, I've been doing the wet healing process again, which is a big pain - but it …

Cool Kids Eat Shit

I've been thinking about this for a few years, so nothing directly sparked this blog... I've actually been consciously not writing this blog due to related situations coming up. I didn't want people to think that they sparked it.

So that said, I was just sitting at home and suddenly got a strange urge to rant! hurrah!

Here it is...

Will someone tell me why the hell eating shitty food is cool? Why is a person who orders cottage cheese instead fries suddenly lame? Why are people who order salads or drink diet pop always "on diets?" Moreover, why is being on a diet even a bad thing? Why is enjoying quality, less-fat food uncool?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my fair share of crappy foods every now and again - and I get a good …

I am the Cracker, Cheese, Crab, Carb King

I snack. Oh man I snack.

When I lived alone I never had snack food because of this. I made sure that all the food I had were things that only worked for dinner, like microwavable meals, frozen chicken breasts, and salmon. But now that Kari makes sure our groceries are fully stocked it's getting out of hand.

I have always craved a carbohydrate of some sort. Whether it's bread, crackers, or beer, I love it. 90% of the time that craving is Wheat Thins. But sometimes it's Wheat Thins plus a beer, which is a great after-work snack.

Then we started getting string cheese - and who doesn't like string cheese? Beyond carbs, I crave cheese... so now I've got this perfect cracker, cheese, beer snack. It's like heaven.

Then, a …

Bistros, cleaning, etc

This weekend was pretty laid back but full of awesome food. Friday, we went to Sage with Nick and Nicole for Kari's little pre-birthday celebration. I love that place. We've gotten the same waitress everytime we've gone there and she rules - really knows her stuff. After that we stopped by the Cab of course.

Saturday I cleaned, worked on videos/web dev, stopped by Trent's house, then Kari's parents came over. Her dad and I went to buy a 4g iPod Nano, but apparently they sent all the 4gigs back to get better screens, heh. The advertisements don't really show how small they are... because all the advertisements are HUGE. But their size is pretty incredible. Too bad they are only 4gb. After iPod searching, we went to dinner at Bis…

Pizza is really really good for you

So, tonight I ordered a 14" Sausage/Mushroom pizza from Papa John's. I was pretty hungry, so I ended up eating 4 pieces. But a 14" pizza isn't that big... so that's actually not that much. Anyway, afterwards I was curious as to how bad for you pizza is. I looked up the nutritional information at Papa John's website. At first I was like, "whoa that's actually not bad at all."

But then I noticed that 1 serving was 1 slice. So then I multiplied everything by 4. Here is the breakdown (percentages based on a 2,000 calorie diet):

Calories 1344g (67%)
Fat 56g (86%)
Sodium 3576g (149%)
Carbs 152g (51%)

Man, it's a good thing I ate subway for lunch.
